D2C Shops - The Hub

Owns the customer relationship, first-party data, lifetime value and profitability.

Gives back

Product data and feeds to agentic. Content and UGC to social. Pricing and bundle tests to marketplace.

How it works in the model

A brand-owned shop holds the relationship and the data to deepen it. The loop: acquire, engage, repeat, grow.

Benefits: first-party insights, higher purchase frequency, lifetime value, profitability.

What the hub gives back

  • Agentic: product data and feeds. This is what AI agents read to find and recommend products.
  • Social: D2C content and UGC. This fuels creator and social content.
  • Marketplaces: pricing and bundle tests. They shape assortment, price and promotions.

It positions the program as a way to capture more of high-consideration, multi-room home projects, after Perigold grew more than 35% in Q2 2026.

DSW rebuilds its VIP program around flexibility, not bigger discounts

Informed by a 10,000-member customer panel, DSW's "Rewards at the Ready" lets members redeem from 200 points (a $1 reward) with 12-month validity, replacing $5 rewards that expired after 75 days. Per-point value fell, but redemption is faster and the program aims to recognise engagement beyond purchases.

So whatLower friction and visible value can matter more for purchase frequency than headline discount depth.
